Getting To The Heart Of Humanity, Leadership, and Life
The first human who hurled an insult instead of a stone was the founder of civilization.
- Sigmund Freud
The fundamental challenge of community innovation is to transform the isolation and self-interest
within our communities into connectedness and caring about each other. It begins when we shift our
attention from the “problems in our town” to the “possibilities of community.” Come together for an
evening of reflection on the possibility of community – in your family, your neighborhood, your
workplace, and in Cochrane as a whole.
David Irvine will share how community-building has been a theme during his forty-year career as a
family therapist, advisor to executives, speaker, best-selling author, leadership development specialist,
and community builder – and what he has learned along the way. He will also speak about his work as
board president of the Wayfinder’s Wellness Society, an organization that provides a safe space for
military and first responders suffering from PTSD.
