BIO
Ozzie Sawicki, M.Sc., ChPC, GISP
Over his 35-year career, Ozzie has coached all levels of athlete—from youth to high-performance competitors at the Paralympic and Olympic Games. With decades of experience in honing individual and team performances, he also applies the lessons learned in sport competition and training camps to business and leadership worldwide through CoachAbility. Ozzie is focused on creating high-performance cultures for organizations and corporations seekinga competitive edge.
Ozzie has held numerous leadership and board positions in Canadian and International sport and is currently the CEO and Program Director for Para Sport International (PSI), an international high-performance training centre based in Cochrane, AB Canada.
A Canadian Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC) and Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame Coach, Ozzie has led teams to eight Paralympic Games and one Olympic Games. He has served as Performance Advisor to the Canadian Paralympic Equestrian and Olympic Three-Day Eventing Teams (2009-2016), Head Coach of the Canadian Para-Athletics Team (2009-2011), and as Head Coach and Technical Director of the Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Team (2000-2004).
Ozzie also represented Canada as Chef de Mission for the Canadian Paralympic Team at the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympic Games.
Ozzie’s experiences translate into creating performance cultures with a competitive edge. As Canadian Team Leader in Sochi in 2014, he helped Canada attain a goal that few believed possible after the success at the previous Games in Vancouver in 2010. Ozzie enlisted senior athletes to mentor the up-and-comers who were untested on the Paralympic stage and generated a culture of inclusiveness that emphasized the critical perspectives and contributions of everyone on the mission team—from coaches to cleaners. By instilling the mantra of “Perform in the Moment, Take Pride in the Journey,” Ozzie created an inclusive direction that engaged every member of the mission team in believing that their contribution mattered, ultimately leading to a top-three gold-medal placement for Canada.
An internationally recognized professional speaker and member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS), Ozzie has taken his message of accessibility, inclusion, leadership, and teambuilding to groups throughout North America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the UnitedKingdom.
In addition to his leadership role as President and CEO of CoachAbility (Pozitive Results SportStrategies Inc./LLC), CEO Para Sport International, and Program Director with Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS) Alberta, Ozzie has over 35 years of industry and academic experience in the resource, technology, information, space, and defense sectors as a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), subject matter expert, innovator, and project lead. Ozzie volunteers as President of the Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce, as one of the many boards and committees he presently represents.
